BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROFESSION:  A Naturopath (also referred to as ND, Naturopathic Medical Doctor or NMD), refers exclusively to a medical degree granted by an accredited naturopathic medical school.  Naturopathic medicine employs complementary and alternative medical therapies within the context of mainstream medicine, which help improve the body’s intrinsic ability to heal and maintain itself.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF LICENSING BOARD: The Arizona Naturopathic Physicians Medical Board regulates those engaged in the practice of naturopathic medicine in Arizona.  The Board governs the issuance of licenses, registrations and certificates for individuals. The Board initiates investigations into complaints and self-reports concerning a naturopath’s possible non-compliance with the law, and determines and administers disciplinary actions if it is determined that Arizona law has been violated.
