BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROFESSION: Arizona defines a contractor as any person, firm, partnership, corporation, association or other organization that, for compensation, undertakes to construct, alter, repair, add to, subtract from, improve, move, wreck or demolish any building, highway, road, railroad, excavation or other structure, project, development or improvement, or to do any part thereof, including the erection of scaffolding or any other structure or work in connection with the construction.
|BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF LICENSING BOARD:||The Arizona Registrar of Contractors (“AROC”) licenses and regulates residential and commercial contractors in Arizona. AROC investigates and attempts to resolve complaints against licensed and unlicensed contractors.|

General Complaint/Investigation Timeline:
- Complaint is filed/Investigation is initiated
- Notice of Investigation is sent to the licensee
- A detailed response is due to the Board within 14 to 30 days
- An interview is held with a Board investigator
- The Board reviews the investigation at a Board Meeting
- The Board determines if discipline is merited
- Discipline is given or the case is dismissed
- The licensee may appeal
